Choosing a loaner skate size

Roller Skate Lethbridge is proud to offer free skate loans at select public events. Roller skates are typically reserved in advance to ensure your size will be available when you arrive!

However, sometimes roller skates have different “fits” that can make it difficult to choose which skate model and size to reserve. The last thing we want is for a skater to show up to an event, only to find their reserved roller skates are too small. Check out the following tips to help you choose the right size for yourself or your family!

Tips for Choosing Roller Skates

Skate loans are listed in adult street shoe size.
• Both women and men sizes are listed.
• 8W / 6M means the skates will fit someone who wears a 8 women’s street shoe or a 6 men’s street shoe.

If you have wide feet, order one size up from your street shoe.
• Bring extra socks in case you need to fill some length.

Different roller skate models have different characteristics.
• Classic skate boot
— Heel, high-cut, minimal interior padding
• Impala skate boot
— Heel, high-cut, thick interior padding
• Roller derby boot
— Minimal heel, low-cut, moderate interior padding

Sizing Chart

If you are unsure of your shoe size, you can measure from the back of your heel to the longest toe and use this chart to determine your size. To measure: Stand straight with your foot on a sheet paper. Have a friend make a tracing of your foot. Measure a straight line from the bottom of your heel to the longest point at the toes to get your measurement. Please note: this chart is a guideline and different models have different fits, depending on the materials they are made of. When in doubt, size up and bring extra socks.
